Iranian Lhotse expedition lead by Eghbal Atlaky Aghbelsn with 12 members.
Several of the climbers in their Everest dispatches have mentioned the Iranian climbers. Sounds like everything going fine for them so far (4/23/2002).
Update 5/8/2002: Dear EverestNews.com: We have just got this news few minutes ago during a phone call with Sadegh Aghajani the president of I.R. Iran Mountaineering Federation and leader of Iranian Lhotse Expedition:
All 14 members of the Iranian expedition are healthy and they could climb up to 8000 meter and return to the base camp for a rest. After few days rest and if the weather be good they will climb up to the Summit ”InshAllal”. There are some climbers in team which had already climbed Everest and the route is familiar for them.
Best wishes
Homayoun Bakhtiyari
